So easy to make, so good for skin! It takes only three proven ingredients, and voila! You just saved yourself some money and gave your thirsty skin a healthy gulp of clean moisture. It is very important that the Rose Hydrosol, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera juice and the Essential Oils come from reputable sources. The toner is only as good as what is put into that bottle. What is a hydrosol?
Per the company I trust to deliver the best ingredients, Mountain Rose Herbs, "hydrosols, also known as "flower waters," are produced by distilling fresh leaves, fruits, flowers, and other plant materials. With similar properties to essential oils, these aromatic waters are much less concentrated.
Their aromas are often soft and subtle when compared to their essential oil counterpart." Both anti-aging and antibacterial, Rose Hydrosol helps to maintain your skin's PH as well as moisturize. Of course if you don't like rose aroma, replace it with lavender, chamomille or melissa, the possibilities are endless.
Considered beauty's magic potion, rosewater in skin products date back to early Egypt and Cleopatra.
Witch Hazel is distilled from the twigs and bark of the Witch Hazel tree, and has wonderful astringent and skin tone balancing benefits. The little bit of alcohol in it helps disperse the optional essential oils properly so that they are properly diluted to put on facial skin.
Organic Aloe Vera juice (I get mine from my garden or from Mountain Rose Herbs), an anti-inflammatory that soothes and naturally moisturizes and tea tree essential oil, nature's most powerful antimicrobial.
The toner already smells divinely with just these three ingredients. For still more aroma and additional benefits from therapeutic grade essential oils, try to add a few drops of rose or geranium. True Rose Essential Oil is very expensive. I opt for Rose Absolute or Geranium Essential Oil instead.
1/2 oz Organic (Rose) Witch Hazel
1/2 oz Organic Aloe Vera Juice
Optional: 8-10 drops of Rose or Geranium Essential Oil
Mix everything into a 2 oz glass spray bottle. Spray onto face after cleansing or throughout the day for extra hydration and ot set make-up in place. Enjoy!
